Is your first time in Phuket?
When arriving in Phuket at the new International Airport, you will be impressed with the bright and well organized systems in place to move you through to the baggage area and then out the door to a wide variety of transport available to take you to your hotel; from metered taxi, fixed rate taxi, Limousine (actually, just a fancy name for “bigger car”), minivan and even an airport bus (although the buses do look a bit old). If I haven’t organized an airport transfer in advance (which is probably a good idea), I usually take a metered taxi as I have found them to be a bit cheaper over the fixed rate taxis. Download GRAB application and finding a cab will easier, faster and cheaper !!
Depending on the time of day and where you are heading, the transport to your hotel can take from 10 minutes to 2 hours, so it can be much less stressful to stay in a location that is closer to the airport. If you are heading to Villa Sunpao it shouldn’t take more then 15 minutes.
It is generally accepted that the most convenient area on the island that is just 10 – 20 minutes from the airport and offers the widest range of tourist facilities is the Laguna Area which encompasses both the Bangtao Beach and Layan Beach areas. This area also has the greatest selection of 4 and 5 star hotels, luxury villas and all the most popular tourist attractions.
While neither beach is overly crowded, Layan Beach is a little less congested and has the perfect backdrop of an offshore island that you can even walk out to at low tide.
On most beaches, to take the perfect sunset photo or selfie without crowds of people in the background can be a challenge, but you won’t find this to be a problem at Layan Beach. But if you are looking for something a little bit louder and exciting, you can stop off at one of the fantastic beach clubs and compare your tan with those that have been here for a while. The Dream Beach Club on Layan beach (formerly the famous Nicky Beach) is one of the best where the rhythmic beat of the music and the sound of the waves combine to give you the perfect beach club experience.
Of course you will want to eat… and what better place to do that but at one of romantic beachfront restaurants all along the Layan and Bangtao beaches. You will cherish those memories (and photos) which you will share with your Facebook friends and with your (real) friends when you get back home. And no trip to Thailand is complete until you have experienced the Thai Massage (my personal favorite). Whether you want a Thai Massage, Foot Massage or Oil Massage, you can pop into one of the local massage shops that are everywhere; or for a more upscale experience from a well-trained therapist, check out one of the local spas that offer a wider range of services including manicure, pedicures, body scrubs, hot stone treatments plus many other exotic experiences.
The high school offers some of its classes at more than one ability level, allowing some students to perform at a slower pace with individualized attention while others move at a more accelerated authentic essays pace.
