Six Phuket Restaurants we love !

Reserve a table for the best restaurants in Phuket and get ready for a foodie experience! I am an expat living in Phuket and along the years I visited a lot of restaurants, with a sincere curiosity to understand the taste of Thai food, the recipes and their culinary traditions. So, here is a list of my fav places (and please keep in mind that this is not a list based on tripadvisor categories, Michelin stars, and similar…just my experience, based on the quality of service I got, the friendly welcome and of course the food) Here we go:

Blue Elephant Located in the heart of Old Phuket Town, this wonderful, historical Phuket colonial mansion is the set of this amazing restaurant, specialized in Royal Thai Cuisine – a rich and exotic combination of flavours and colors. Those dishes were once created for the Royal Palace. Excellent dishes made by Executive Chef Noroor and her kitchen brigade. Thai Cuisine at its best. Vegetarian Food available. This is the place if you want to learn cooking Thai food.

Firefly Restaurant Located in the Northern part of Phuket, near Layan Beach, this modern-with-a zest restaurant is one of my favorites. Excellent menu, a very quiet and chic environment, creative cocktail list (not to mention the Mocktail category), and a very accurate service. The Executive Chef is from Australia and has been able to put all her love for food to create this fusion menu. Suggestion: the skordalia, roasted artichoke, cauliflower and fresh grapes dish is a mix of flavors for a very unusual and interesting result.

Project Artisan – Garden Eatery We are still in Layan area, a few steps from Villoft project and Dream Beach Resort; this incredible place is open to amaze you with a restaurant with fresh food, served in creative ways. Excellent vegetarian and vegan options. You can find also a spa, nail bar and a grab & go store with pastries, bread, panini and many other delicacies.

La Gaetana We move to Phuket Town again and we find La Gaetana. It enjoys a formidable reputation in Phuket as a small, family run Italian restaurant. The food is very interesting, and the service is really good. What impresses me is the “prescription glasses” menu; I mean, how many times we are given a menu and we realize we forgot our glasses at home and we start making funny faces just to be able to read the menu? No worries..at La Gaetana they bring you a beautifully arranged tray with prescription glasses so you can read the menu and order. Bravo to this customer oriented service!

Natural Hefe – Macrobiotic World Located in Nai Harn (we are going south again…), this restaurant is near the beach, like just 5 minutes from the beach front. The owner is from Greece and is very knowledgeable and enthusiast about vegan, raw and macrobiotic food and its healing powers. I like the nice vibe I get when I go there and the buffet is always full of new dishes. You can also find a store chock-full of products, all organic and selected among the best available brands. With the friendly advice of the owner, and the products sold here to choose from, making yourself a smoothie or a dish will be no longer a secret.

Santosa Vegan Restaurant Probably the most breathtaking view of all Phuket! Located on Kata Hills, this vegan restaurant has built a very good reputation also as a detox restaurant (it is located near a detox center). Weekly buffet, juice bar, and a la carte menu, all them created and developed by Chef Yvano, an Italian chef which puts all his experience gained in more than 15 years in Japan in his dishes.I like raw food, I like fusion food (Italian, thai and indian) and when I am in the Southern part of the island this place is one of my favorites.
